Mæ Architects’ John Morden Centre wins the RIBA Stirling Prize

We are thrilled that Mæ Architects’ John Morden Centre has been named the winner of this year’s RIBA Stirling Prize! What an extraordinary achievement – it’s wonderful to see Mæ recognised for their carefully considered work on this truly meaningful project.

OMA partner and jury chair Ellen van Loon, described the project as “A bold and hopeful model for health and care centres for the elderly… creating an environment that lifts the spirits and fosters community is evident at every turn and in every detail.”

Located in Blackheath, the scheme is a day care centre for residents of Morden College, a grade I-listed retirement home originally founded in 1695.

Mæ’s design brings together facilities spread across the college site into an innovative new building designed which tackles social isolation among older residents by providing spaces to interact.
