London Festival of Architecture
In January 2019 LFA launched the second iteration of their City Benches competition, together with the City of London Corporation and Cheapside Business Alliance. Architecture and design students, recent graduates and emerging practices were invited to enter the competition. In June, LFA unveiled the five winning public benches which sat across the Cheapside district of the City of London. Each bench was intended both to showcase fresh design talent and to offer imaginative places for people to rest amidst the bustle of their city surroundings. Over 85 teams responded, with the final five teams selected by an expert jury including Anne O’Neill (chair, Cheapside Business Alliance), Tanya Parkin (associate director, Eric Parry Architects), Ellie Stathaki (architecture editor, Wallpaper*) and Tamsie Thomson (managing director, LFA).
